CDM/Clean Development Mechanism
Adopted at the Third Conference of Parties (COP-3) to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, the Clean Development Mechanism is an emission trading mechanism designed to simultaneously benefit developing and industrialized countries.
The CDM has two primary goals:
- To assist Annex I countries in reaching their emission reduction targets, and;
- To promote sustainable development objectives in the host countries (non-Annex I countries).
